There
are those who have had a measure of Divine light, but have not sufficiently
waited upon the Lord to prove
all things by the Word and by the Holy Spirit. Their revelations have not become a reality
in their own spiritual experience.
These bring forth a mixture in their teaching; partly spiritual,
partly natural.
There
are others who are anointed at times, and have had a measure of
truth revealed to them. This
knowledge remains in their memory, but the anointing has subsided
or disappeared. These may preach from an intellectual
understanding of this truth, but are not living in its power.
To
hold the truth in theory, but not live in its power experientially,
is displeasing to God. To
have revelation as to theory and not enter into it in experience,
can be compared to arctic sunshine on a bank of snow.
It is bright and dazzling, but without heat or life. It is no more satisfying than the mirage
on a western plain. It
looks attractive to the famished one, but leaves him still dying
of thirst.
The
pure unmixed truth, which is the quickened Word of God, is living
and powerful.
For
the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged
sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,
and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
This
state of revelation truth and experience was known and lived during
the apostolic days. It
has also been lived by individuals here and there, wholly or in
part. But now the time has come when this privilege
must be known and attained to in a high degree. God must have such a company through whom
He will be able to prosecute His appointed last day mighty works.
Not
that God is at all dependent upon man to carry out His works, but
the Lord, in great mercy and condescension, has invited man to participate,
to become workers together with Him. God has been so magnanimous in His attitude
toward man. He has
honored man with so benevolent a proposition; who would at all hesitate
to accept His offer? But
simple, honest ones are saying, I
desire to enter the school of His preparation and become meet for
His purposes. Yet, I know not His way of advance. How am I to do this?
Listen,
hungry hesitant one: Stop struggling and trying in your own way. Hark, the Lord speaks to thee. Get acquainted with the Holy Spirit.
He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance. He will guide you into all truth.
You
will never progress and do well until you have learned to understand
and follow His guidance. This
is acquired by a patient, continued, earnest seeking of God. There is no other way into the fullness.
Voices of flesh and temptation may clamor for you to regard
them; but by patiently waiting upon the Lord, these clamorings will
be silenced. Your heart
will become chastened and refined from dross; your ear will become
tuned to hear heavenly, Holy Spirit speakings within.
There
are a variety of ways and methods of seeking and attaining to spiritual
knowledge and experience through Gods grace. Some enables one to go but a short way
in spirituals, while others carry one even quite a distance.
But
now I will point out to you a way of life that transcends all others.

This
more excellent way
we must search out, if we are to come to the fullness of all that
He has made available to us.
Ask,
and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened unto you.
Matthew 7:7
